Has any one got a bit of advice of ideas on what can be done to get every little bit of power out a stock 1600 twin cam

I have an old motor that I want to take the head off and play around with polish and possibly over size valves, has any 1 tried this and what are the results? I would hate to spend 10k on cams and gasflow for an extra few KW it just does not seem viable to me #blabla , or do I just scallop the pistons and turbo the red and white peril? #Devil

But then how do I keep the power on the ground I smoke the inside tire as it is on tight bends?

so this is the racers endless quest for the perfect balance of power vs. traction, stuff it give me more power I will worry about traction later.

I know those engines well, I would do some gas flowing on the head and try and get the compression up to about 12 to 1 (some Mazda pistons can be used) and get adjustable cam pulleys. The standard throttle body is also very restrictive.

awesome thanks for the help, you don't perhaps know what Mazda pistons to use? I've been thinking about going with throttle bodies or bigger throttle for a while now, just need to see if I can make mods or find something similar that I can Frankenstein
